Acne Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes flushing and redness on the face and neck. In some cases if the condition is left untreated this can lead to pimples pustules and dilated blood vessels. Rosacea symptoms typically exhibit themselves after the age of 30 and effect mainly women with fairer skin, it is very common impacting 1 in 10 women to very degrees.
Causes
There are different types of Rosacea and while the overall cause is still not very well understood, it is thought that it can be of a result of internal and external heat, stress, sun exposure, caffeine & alcohol.
There is also a genetic link. Antibiotic creams and tablets are often used to help the condition.
IPL and Rosacea
While Rosacea cannot be completely cured, it can be effectively controlled with IPL. The light increases the temperature of oxyhemoglobin in the blood which destroys damaged capillaries near the surface of the skin. It also causes visible blood vessels to constrict and shrink. Both actions work together to reduce the appearance of redness and irritation. Several treatments maybe required.
